FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS

| WAGON TOURS OF HAGGARD PARK
NEIGHBORHOOD |
Description of Event:
Visitors will be able to ride in an authentic horse-drawn wagon
and see one of Plano’s first residential neighborhoods.
Tour guides will tell stories about several of the houses
as the wagon
passes them.
Duties:
Loading – Taking donations, helping people in and out of
the wagons, and crowd control.
Tour Guides – Learning the tour route and information about
each of the houses featured on the tour, giving the tours and being
able to answer basic questions. |

| INFORMATION AND HISTORY BOOTH |
Description of Event:
Visit the History and Information booth for an exciting exhibit about
the Blackland Prairie and why we celebrate its heritage at this
festival. This is also the place for information about the festival
and about historic Plano.
Duties:
Information Table – Sitting at the information table handing
out festival maps and other information, answering basic questions
about the festival and historic Plano.
Exhibit – Encouraging people to enter the booth, answering
basic questions about the blackland prairie and Plano history. |

| DIRECTING AND UNLOADING |
Giving
directions to arriving demonstrators and vendors during the morning
setup, and assisting the artist coordinator in unloading. Those
unloading should be able to carry heavy boxes. |

| TEXANA LIVING HISTORY |
Description of Event:
Children will do a variety of old fashioned hands on activities from
washing clothes, grinding corn and making rag dolls.
Duties:
Take donations, be an extra pair of hands to the artisans, especially
the rag doll maker, crowd control, line management. |

TRACKLESS TRAIN
RIDE /
PETTING ZOO |
Description of Event:
Children and adults (of a reasonable size) will ride a trackless
train for short rides around the festival area and the petting zoo.
Duties:
Take donations, crowd control, line management, supervision of animals
(with help of owner/operator). |

| INTERURBAN RAILWAY MUSEUM |
Description of Event:
The Interurban Museum will be open to the public and tours will be
given of the restored Car 360. The Texas Electric Railway that
operated from 1908 to 1948 connected small towns in North Texas
by electric rail.
Duties:
Volunteers will staff the museum, answer questions about the Texas
Electric Railway, give tours of Car 360, assistance getting on and
off the car, safety, and crowd control. Information and/or scripts
on the system and car will be provided in advance. |

| TRAIN
RIDES |
Description of Event:
A children’s train ride will loop through a portion of
Haggard Park.
Duties:
Crowd control, safety, and boarding. Crowds are anticipated, so patience
and a professional demeanor will be required. |

HISTORIC HOME TOURS |
Description of Event:
Tours of Historic homes located in the downtown area of Plano. A
ride and from the home is provided.
Duties:
Docent/Guides:
Crowd control, security (within homes), safety, and boarding. Crowds are anticipated, so patience
and a professional demeanor will be required. |
Note:
The festival is a rain-or-shine event.
